Today I dyed my hair black. I'll post pictures when I get them. I'm actually going to sleep now, though. Since school is out, I'm planning on posting more blogs about my opinions, etc. for certain issues and whatnot. For now, I sleep.

Well, its been a while since I've posted anything in my blog, and decided I'd post a bit today. One of the reasons I haven't posted since February (the post in february was for Sociology, and I had to print it at school, so I just put it on my blog for easy access.) because, well, not much has happened that is worth blogging about. I know only a few people read my blog, so I don't really need to post every little thing that happens in my life.

Today, my WoW subscription ran out, and as of now I don't have the means to keep playing. Perhaps that will change when or if I get some shitty job. (something I've tried to avoid for the longest time) Since quitting my job at Walmart in late November of last year, I've been enjoying life much more than when I had the job. When I worked, I was very unhappy, and I hated everyone who walked through those sliding glass doors. I reason I quit, though, was because everyday I went in the same direction- Wake up, work, go home, sleep, repeat. On weekdays- Wake up, go to school, go to work, go home, sleep, repeat. I was tired of being a robot, and slave to the evil Walmart corporation. So I quit, and it was the best day of my life in 2007. No lie.

I love the illusion of time that writing things on the interenet or irl gives. Since the first sentence of this blog, I've taken a shower, looked through a magazine, gotten lunch, ate lunch, browsed around on the intertrons a bit, and held a few conversations in MSN. Another reason I like the internet, is the masque of anonymity behind which one can hide. And now I'm loosing the will to write anymore, so I'm out.

SKINHEADS-

Purpose: racist skinheads started out as a group of working class men in the UK who thought pakistani immigrants were stealing their jobs, and would often go around in gangs and beat up pakistani immigrants. Neo-nazi beliefs started to be incorporated with the racist skinhead groups, which eventually lead to many skinheads joining white-supremacy groups in the united states.

Targeted groups: racist skinheads target basically anyone who is non-white, straight, christian, or skinhead. I.e. they have been known to target any group that opposes them. They also fight with other skinheads, both racist and anti-racist.

summary: racist skinheads are growing in number in our country, and skinhead leaders are targeting younger boys to recruit into their "crews" of skinheads. Skinheads are typically working or middle class teenagers, and usually aren't very well educated. Many of them come from broken homes, and are easily recruited because many want to be a part of something. Young skinheads tend to be easily lead and violent, and the older skinheads are typically less violent, but lead and exploit the younger skinheads into doing what they want.

How do do we fight hate in America?
The American people, unfortunately, do little to fight hate. Only when they are given a poke or a prod do they even think about fighting hate. This poke could be in the form of a television special report, a newspaper article, a hate crime commited in their community, or a hate group holding a rally, among other things. Otherwise, the average, everyday Amerian does very little to fight hate. However, millions of Americans fight hate everyday. Fighting hate could be done through a multitude of different ways. Many Americans donate money to groups that fight hate, such as the ACLU, ADL, SPLC, and others. This is seemingly the most popular way for Americans to fight hate, as millions of dollars are donated to groups like these each year. The aforementioned groups help fight hate also by lobbying the government to pass laws which protect others from hate crimes.
Some Americans like to take their battle against hate to the streets. Various anti-racist activist groups such as Anti-racist Action (ArA), Antifa, red and Anarchist Skinheads (rash), One People's Project, and others take to the streets and protest (sometimes radically so) racism. Less radical and partisan groups (such as ADL and SPLC) work to monitor and inform people about hategroups and what these hategroups stand for. These groups work to educate more than stage protests or take to the streets.
Even though it seems Americans are somewhat lax at fighting hate, it amazes me still that when hategroups stage protests or marches, opposition shows up in great numbers. It really shows that some people are dedicated to the cause of fighting hate in America. The fact that so many people can unite to fight hate is extraordinary in and of itself. As hate groups grow in membership, so does the opposition. Not only do we outnumber the hate groups, but we also have facts and knowledge on our side. We have the power to educate and spread the real truth, not the fabricated lies spread by the hate groups in order to further their agenda.
As I said, one way we fight is educate; we teach tolerance and acceptance. Not just in schools, but also the way we live in our every day lives. Through our actions we teach our children how to be tolerant of others no matter their race, sex, sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc. By not letting hate proliferate, we are sucessfully fighting it. Tolerance is key if we want to live together in peace, and want to eliminate hate. We must accept the fact that we live in a largely pluralistic society; a melting pot of sorts. We must realize that hatred only hinders progress, and can only send us into remiss.
